netcare education (pty) ltd, including its faculty of emergency and critical care (fecc) is registered with the department of higher education and training, as a private higher education institution under the higher education act of 1997. registration certificate no. 2014/he07/010.

the fecc is furthermore accredited with the following professional organisations:

  • health professions council of south africa (hpcsa)
  • resuscitation council of south africa (rcsa)
  • south african department of labour (dol)
  • international trauma life support (itls)
  • american heart association (aha)

the fecc is a leading south african provider of private emergency medical services training.

fecc’s accreditation

netcare education (pty) ltd, including its faculty of emergency and critical care (fecc) is registered with the department of higher education and training as a private higher education institution under the higher education act of 1997. registration certificate no. 2014/he07/010.

the health professions council of south africa is a statutory body which is mandated to regulate the health professions in the republic of south africa in aspects pertaining to registration, education and training, professional conduct and ethical behaviour, ensuring continuing professional development, and fostering compliance with healthcare standards. the hpcsa, acting as the sector education and training authority (seta), as mandated by the south african qualifications authority (saqa), regulates training in respect of the diploma in emergency medical care.

the american heart association is a non-profit organisation in the united states that fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. the aha publishes a standard for providing basic and advanced life support, including standards for proper performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cpr). the aha offers the most widely accepted certification for basic life support (bls). the aha is a provider of training for first aid.

the resuscitation council of southern africa is a voluntary coordinating body whose primary aim is to foster and coordinate the practice and teaching of resuscitation, and to promote uniformity and standardisation of resuscitation techniques.

the american heart association, through the resuscitation council of south africa, accredits training with regards to heart saver cpr, cpr for family & friends, basic life support for healthcare providers, advanced cardiac life support (acls), and paediatric advanced life support (pals).

the department of labour is a branch of the national government of the republic of south africa, and is mandated to play a significant role in reducing unemployment, poverty and inequality through policies and programmes which are aimed at improved economic efficiency and productivity, skills development and employment creation, sound labour relations, eliminating inequality and discrimination in the workplace, and alleviating poverty in employment.

the department of labour provides accreditation for first aid training.

international trauma life support is a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing death and disability from trauma through education and emergency trauma care. ems professionals are taught proven techniques endorsed by the american college of emergency physicians (acep).
