“We are humbled that our hospital has been recognised as the top hospital in Gauteng, based on the experiences of Beeld readers,” says Rolien Kuhne, general manager of Netcare Pretoria East Hospital.

“This award represents a vote of confidence by the community in the value we place on person centred, health and care and an acknowledgement of the skill and dedication of the doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals, administrative and services staff who work at the hospital,” she adds.

“On behalf of all at the hospital, we thank Beeld’s readers for recognising our efforts in continuously providing excellent care and service to the community we serve. We are greatly encouraged by the award and will continue to explore and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing our patients’ hospital experience.”

Dr Erich Bock, Netcare’s regional director for the North East region notes that healthcare is a particularly challenging sector when it comes satisfying expectations, as it impacts people’s lives more deeply than other sectors within the services industry.

“The award presented to Netcare Pretoria East Hospital means a great deal to the staff, management and healthcare professionals practising at the facility, who have touched many lives through their dedicated service. The acknowledgement bears testimony that they are living the Netcare values of care, dignity, participation, truth and passion in their daily interactions with patients and their families, colleagues and the wider communities they serve,” he says.

“Our values underpin the hospital’s commitment to consistently deliver the quality care that the people of Tshwane and surrounds appreciate and rightfully expect. We are grateful that the hospital is entrenched as an integral part of the community,” adds Dr Bock.

The 358-bed Netcare Pretoria East Hospital, situated in Moreletta Park, offers patients access to the latest advances in medical and surgical technology, interventions and treatments across a broad spectrum of specialities.

Specialised services at the hospital include the only internationally accredited haematology centre in South Africa, which is also the largest private practice in Africa dedicated to the treatment of blood cancers and disorders of the blood. The hospital is also highly regarded for its specialised service offering including advanced laparoscopic surgery, centre of excellence for arthroplasty hip and knee surgery, a sleep and neurophysiology centre, as well as a centre for deep brain stimulation procedures, a fertility centre and a gastroenterology unit.

Netcare Pretoria East Hospital was also recognised with the Rekord newspapers’ Readers’ Choice Award for best hospital in Pretoria for five consecutive years since 2013.

“We are delighted that our hospital’s commitment to providing person centred health and care has resonated with the community and thank them for their trust, confidence and on-going support,” Kuhne concludes.
