Netcare pharmacists acknowledged by the South African Society of Clinical Pharmacist (SASOCP)
Four Netcare pharmacists receive awards
Four Netcare pharmacists recently received awards from The South African Society of Clinical Pharmacist (SASOCP) at its 5th annual conference in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
Nirasha Singh, Head: Netcare Clinical Pharmacy Services, walked away with the “Clinical Pharmacy Contributor of the Year” award, while Dipika Chunnilall from Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital, won the award for the “Up and Coming Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner”.
Local and international speakers and pharmacists from South Africa’s private, public and academic sectors shared their research and clinical pharmacy practises with delegates at the conference via podium and poster presentations.
Netcare was well represented, with 11 poster presentations and three podium presentations having been accepted by SASOCP for this year’s conference.
Leanne Stone from Netcare Greenacres Hospital won the award for best poster presentation at the conference. Her poster focused on the impact of a ward pharmacist in a surgical ward of a private hospital.
Saunal Khoosal from Netcare Parklands Hospital was 2nd runner-up in the poster presentation category. The topic of her poster was “Hung up on hang-time: advancing towards a 100% target of less than 1 hour”.
Our pharmacists play a crucial role in our clinical teams through consistently providing our patients with quality care and seeking to optimise clinical outcomes. The large number of Netcare poster and podium presentations accepted by SASOCP bears testimony to the significant value that our pharmacists are contributing to our ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
