Fourth consecutive Diamond Arrow Award for iconic Durban hospital

Friday, November 9 2018

Following completion of its annual provincial survey in KwaZulu-Natal, consulting, research and risk management company, PMR.africa has awarded Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital a Diamond Arrow Award in the private hospital category, the highest of its award ratings.

“We are honoured and humbled that Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital has been recognised in this way,” said its general manager, Heinrich Venter, after accepting the PMR.africa Diamond Award on behalf of the hospital for the fourth consecutive year.

The PMR.africa KwaZulu-Natal Business Excellence Awards are the culmination of a research process whereby companies and institutions are rated by respondents on the criteria of brand awareness, levels of managerial expertise, implementation of corporate governance, levels of innovation and enhancing the economic growth and development of KwaZulu-Natal.

“The award acknowledges our hospital team’s on-going dedication to healthcare excellence, and they are to be congratulated on this outstanding achievement. This year marks the eight Diamond Arrow Award the hospital has won since 2007,” Venter said.

PMR.africa Golden Arrow Awards were, in turn, secured by Netcare uMhlanga Hospital and Netcare Parklands Hospital. This is the second year running that Netcare Parklands Hospital has been awarded a Golden Arrow Award. Last year Netcare uMhlanga Hospital was awarded a Silver Arrow Award.

Commenting on the awards Craig Murphy, Netcare regional director: coastal, says the awards serve as testament to the fact that these hospitals continue to uphold and deliver on Netcare’s values of care, dignity, participation, truth and passion.

“Getting positive feedback is a good indicator of whether we are achieving our service objectives, and this award confirms that our teams at the three hospitals are doing just that.”

“Any illness or injury is always accompanied by a range of emotions and dealing with each patient and their loved ones with compassion and respect in a way that maintains their dignity requires an on-going commitment to service and professionalism. The awards are a tribute to the quality of care, skill and dedication of the doctors, nurses, other healthcare practitioners, administrative and support staff at Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital, Netcare Parklands Hospital and Netcare uMhlanga Hospital. It is an inspiration to us to continue striving for providing each person with the best and safest care,” he concludes.
