Hospital welcomes new paediatrician
Netcare Margate Hospital take pleasure in welcoming Dr Bhavna Jasmat
The management and staff members at Netcare Margate Hospital take pleasure in welcoming Dr Bhavna Jasmat, a paediatrician who recently commenced private practice at the facility.
Rob Ferreira, general manager at the hospital, says they are privileged to be able to offer critical paediatric services to the community and to have Dr Jasmat’s expertise in their new neonatal intensive care unit.
No stranger to the Netcare Group or to KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Jasmat spent the past eleven years in private practice at Netcare St Augustine’s and Netcare Umhlanga hospitals. Before this, she was a consultant paediatrician at Stanger Hospital and Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in the province.

Dr Jasmat’s experience in working with babies and children is extensive and include taking care of babies in neonatal ICU, some weighing as little as 700 grams, which she says is one of the most challenging but most rewarding aspects of the work she does, and in managing young children.
She is also experienced in managing young children as well as teenagers up to 18 years old, and has a special interest in children with difficulties in performing academically.
A mother herself of two university students aged 22 and 19, Dr Jasmat can relate first hand to parents of children of different ages in terms of the pressures of raising children, as well as the natural anxiety that comes when one’s child is unwell.
“Dr Jasmat believes that her own experience as a mother makes her a better doctor, especially as a paediatrician, and we trust that she will have a long and rewarding journey with us,” concludes Ferreira.
