Hospital mourns loss of ‘much loved and respected’ anaesthetist
Netcare The Bay Hospital pays tribute to long serving doctor
Netcare The Bay Hospital is deeply saddened by the passing of the much loved and respected Dr Syed Naqi Haider Taqvi, who practised as an anaesthetist at the hospital for 18 years. Dr Taqvi sadly passed away on 16 January.
Mduduzi Ngubane, general manager at Netcare The Bay Hospital says that Dr Taqvi will be remembered as a gentleman, leaving behind him a legacy of kindness, compassion and caring that will forever be kept in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have worked alongside him.
“During his almost two decades of service to the community at our hospital, Dr Taqvi touched countless lives, from the patients whose wellbeing he placed above all, to staff and colleagues who so often went to him for advice and help without ever being turned away,” he said.
Ngubane notes that messages of tribute have been pouring in, with one of Dr Taqvi’s colleagues remembering his wonderful sense of humour and sharing fond memories of cricket conversations in the tea room. Fellow anaesthetists at the hospital expressed their tremendous sense of loss at his passing, remembering him as being tireless in his hard work and helpfulness.
“The high degree of professionalism that Dr Taqvi displayed was an inspiration to us all, and many have remarked on his wisdom. He was a cherished member of the Netcare The Bay Hospital family and his enduring presence will be sorely missed.
