Thanks to the generosity of the local Richard’s Bay community and the doctors and staff of Netcare The Bay Hospital, residents of the iKhaya Lika Baba children’s home are among the beneficiaries of the hospital’s recent ‘Spread the love’ charity drive.

Hospital staff wrote notes of encouragement and good wishes, adding a personal touch to accompany the donations. “We are very grateful for the kind support this campaign received, and I wish to personally thank everyone who contributed to this initiative, held in partnership with Do I Care Enough [DICE],” says Mduduzi Ngubane, general manager of Netcare The Bay Hospital, which hosted the collection.

The hospital collected non-perishable food items, including canned foods, peanut butter, jelly, jams, soup, tea bags, coffee, cereals, and sugar, as well as toiletries, which DICE distributed to those in need in the Zululand area. Hospital staff wrote notes of encouragement and good wishes, adding a personal touch to accompany the donations.

“The collection took place during February, the month of love, under the banner ‘Spread the love’. We recently received a letter from DICE, expressing heartfelt appreciation for all the donations received and sharing the heart-warming news that these goods are bringing relief where they are needed the most,” Ngubane says.

“A hamper of cereal, sugar and soap has been passed on to iKhaya Lika Baba orphanage, and another hamper was donated to a young ‘warrior mother’ who is undergoing cancer treatment and needed assistance in providing for her family.

“DICE also has a ‘walk in grocery cupboard’ for members of the community who cannot afford food. We are privileged to have supported this worthy cause and thank DICE for their commitment to the people of Zululand.”

Ngubane thanked all members of staff who helped to make the charity drive such a tremendous success. “Together we can make a positive difference in the lives of others, and ‘Spread the love’ to help make daily life a little easier for people within our community in their time of need,” he concluded.
