Netcare Parklands Hospital will be bringing more joy to expectant parents at MamaMagic: The Baby Expo this August as the hospital will, for the first time, be sponsoring a full birth package at its maternity unit.
This superb prize includes the delivery and hospital stay in a private room; the services of a gynaecologist, paediatrician and midwife; as well as a range of antenatal and postnatal services.
Netcare Parklands Hospital is situated in Overport in the Durban area and has been providing medical services to the upper Berea community for 70 years. The hospital’s maternity facilities comprise an 18-bed maternity ward including private and semi-private rooms, a 12-bed neonatal ward and three delivery rooms.
Fuad Salie, general manager of Netcare Parklands Hospital, indicates that the expertise and comfort offered by the facility are not the only benefits of having one’s baby at the hospital. “Our staff and midwives are truly passionate about bringing new life into the world and assisting parents to nurture their newborns. We place a strong emphasis on providing quality and personalised care in order to safeguard the well-being of our mothers and babies.”
The lucky competition winner will also be provided with additional maternity services, such as the Netcare Stork’s Nest Maternity Passport, which includes:
- A free 4D scan between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy
- A baby gift bag full of goodies to assist the parents on their new journey
- Placement of baby’s photograph on the Netcute website (with the parents’ consent)
- Free vaccinations for the baby’s first year at the hospital’s Stork’s Nest mother and baby wellness clinic
- The first ‘well baby’ check-up at the clinic
The maternity unit at Netcare Parklands Hospital is supported by specialists who work closely with the hospital’s friendly and experienced maternity staff. Kangaroo care, or skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby, is encouraged as this promotes physiological warmth and bonding. Qualified breastfeeding consultants are on call to provide breastfeeding support to new mothers.
“At Netcare Parklands Hospital we are dedicated to ensuring that parents and their newborns receive personal care before, during and after delivery. We understand that this can be a very exciting yet potentially stressful period for parents and we are committed to meeting their physical, psychological and emotional needs during this special time of their lives,” concludes Salie.
MamaMagic: The Baby Expo, which will be held from 28 to 30 August at the Durban Exhibition Centre, offers everything under one roof for pregnancy, babies and toddlers. Tickets are R60 and available through Computicket or at the door. If you are an expectant parent hoping to win this fantastic prize, be sure to collect your entry form at the door and have it stamped by all stands at the expo to be eligible for entry.
