A wealth of specialist knowledge and a strong sense of community among parents-to-be recently made for a memorable series of pregnancy awareness events for 200 expectant parents at Netcare Linkwood Hospital.
Sr Amori Jordaan, a specialist midwife and maternity unit manager at the facility, noted that specialist guests at the events included obstetricians, paediatricians, chiropractors and midwives, whose insights were shared with the lively groups of moms and dads-to-be.
“Topics under the spotlight ranged from how to ensure a healthy baby to pregnancy aches and pains, the highs and lows of childbirth, breastfeeding woes, and how to cope as a family in those early weeks of newborn life. Talks held by experienced fathers gave a fresh perspective on the often challenging journey into parenthood and sparked some meaningful and important conversations,” she said.
“We wish to thank all those who participated in these engaging events for their valuable input. It was heartwarming to see the many connections that were made, which we hope will have a positive and lasting impact on many of the couples and young families who attended.”
Jordaan concluded by thanking sponsors for their generous prizes that were contributed, including Baby Yum Yum, Cryosave, Pigeon, Lancet Laboratories, Next Biosciences, Chiro Kids, Practica Program, Curaprox and Babies R Us.
