Netcare 911 rapid response vehicles, ambulances and paramedics are a common sight at local and international sporting events in South Africa, providing both athletes and audiences with the emergency medical services they need.
As South Africa’s leading risk management and emergency medical services provider, top companies trust us to provide fully integrated, world class emergency medical support.
We routinely measure and publish the results of the Quality of Care we provide, guided by our primary principles of transparency and patient-centred care.
We have four dedicated mobile ICU ambulances – three based in Gauteng and one in the Western Cape. These highly specialised vehicles provide an intensive care environment to transfer critically ill, injured or high risk patients between medical facilities when specialised or ongoing treatment is needed at another facility, following stabilisation after an emergency.
Our Volkswagen Crafters were selected for their large cabin areas, giving paramedics the necessary space to efficiently provide advanced life support to their patients. Fitted with ICT and IDS technology, these vehicles are custom designed to serve as highly specialised mobile ICUs, giving patients the same level of care they’d receive in hospital. Each ICU ambulance carries the following:
Resuscitation, intubation and multiparameter vital signs monitoring equipment.
Adult and paediatric ventilators.
Infusion pumps and balloon pumps.
Blood gas machines.
An extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine for heart and respiratory support.
A 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) to transmit recordings to doctors at the receiving hospital.
Our extrication and rescue vehicles are equipped with specialised extrication and rescue equipment. All our personnel have appropriate medical and firefighting qualifications, and can perform light and heavy motor vehicle extrication, high angle and steep slope rescue, basic firefighting, and aquatic and confined space extrication.
Rescue 1 (Gauteng), Rescue 2 (Durban), and Rescue 3 (Richards Bay) are all fitted with the latest technology and following equipment:
Electric generator for roof mounted floodlights
Hydraulic rescue tools (jaws of life)
Pneumatic lifting bags, breathing apparatus, reciprocating saw
Fire extinguishers, traffic cones, ladder, ropes
Climbing harnesses and rescue basket
Medical equipment
Small tools and a stabilisation equipment
Our single and twin engine helicopters have been selected for their incomparable flight range, speed and ease of handling. We constantly revisit the latest innovations in EMS helicopter design to ensure our craft are equipped with the latest adaptations.
Our 2 dedicated jet air ambulances can be deployed within 90 minutes of flight authorisation. All missions are conducted with two pilots accredited by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) and are staffed by emergency medicine trained doctors, registered nurses and paramedics.
Our jet air ambulance squadron caters for a range of medical evacuation needs and conditions at the destination. When our dedicated jets are not available we also have access to 3 fixed wing aircraft.
